Students and Staff at the 2011 Spring Workshop
The 2011 Spring Workshop saw another really good group of people come together in an exceptional location in Andalucia, Spain. As in Summer 2010, everybody got on like a house on fire and were soon comparing notes and tunes.
The Cortijo proved to be a delightful place to stay - the owner Stefan and his wife have really done a great job renovating the place and kitting it out with Moroccan furniture.
Lessons were mostly inside and students enjoyed the informal sessions on the various aspects of the Renbourn repertoire. Sessions were often slow to break up with small groups and individual students picking up on points they particularly wanted to pursue. >>
Afternoons were split between recording sessions with Mike in the Cortijo's enormous main hall and the optional harmony and technique sessions with Remy.
The non-players enjoyed an organised trip to see the legendary Alhambra Palace and there were massage therapy sessions and yoga too.
The Andalucian atmosphere was completed by Carmen and Paco in the kitchen with a steady flow of traditional Spanish recipes. That and the local wine made for a really relaxing and sociable dinner every night.
